@disla, I agree with your sentiment.
I have not looked very deep into FEMaster, it seems really powerful. The benefit is the use of shells and proper beams which CCX does not have. However CCX has 28 years of development in it, with a very establi…
@Sergio I have already developed an Opensees plugin but it is for commercial software called Prokon that my Junior uses. I haven’t thought about implementing it on Mecway though. It is very limited when it comes to mixing element types though (possi…
Just my two cents.
I really like how Mecway has evolved over the years. It has provided an accessible platform for engineering analysis that would previously have been out of reach for many of us.
I agree that duplicating functionality is not nece…
It is basically a sparse linear equation solver. I should have read through more of the documentation though. It is extremly unrealiable and porbalimatic. I will however share the package in the next few days.
@KundertdeWit Thanks for the merge. You may want to merge one more time from my branch. I have managed to get the end releases working for geometric nonlinear analysis of beam elements.
I may not make any modification and changes for a while since…
@sofien_73 thanks for your model and data.
@Vicotr, as Sofien mentioned there isn't a problem with Mecway. After I fixed some of the issues I managed to get the same results on Mecway and Code Aster.
The issue sits with structural software. All 3 …
@KundertdeWit I will wait for your new release, merge it with mine and resolve any issues and then we canpossibly merge it back to your repository since that is the master.
I have added some extra functionality for beam elements, offsets, geometric nonlinear analysis, fixed the oriantation issues.
Please refer to the below link. I have not pushed it to my main brach as yet.
@KundertdeWit, I am not an expert with Gith…
@sofien thanks, that would be nice...
I am inclined to think that there may be an issue with the torionsal modes on the structural engineering packages. I have managed to get similar from Code Aster through the plugin created for Mecway.
It seems to be working fine on my end now. I was playing with the tool during a meeting and didn't have my extra screens with me. All is working perfectly now
Hi Victor,
Has the issue regarding the links being solved when using the OpenRadioss solver? There was an issue where the solver would report "Error reading solution. Index was out of bounds of the array"
Much like LIGGGHTS, I think OpenRadioss will live forever on GitHub. Siemens are going to loose the battle, at the end of the day even if they develop Radioss into a Celestial level software, the varients will probably cover 99.99% of engineering a…
@JJJ I have used Opensees, it is pretty easy to use and the manual is very detailed. I came up with python scripts which automate model development. The only issue is that the python packages gives some issues so I have opted to use the exe where da…
I have been struggling with surface geometry from Inventor. It is really not useable in any FEA software. I have written the below script which runs on its own (not within Mecway). It will read a .stp file, fragment all the surfaces and then save th…
I haven’t read through all the comments as yet. But, if you ran a dynamic simulation with initial conditions using the Radioss solver, use those results with some signal processing to check the frequencies… it will account for damping which you moda…
I did an audit 2 years ago on a crushing and screening building done on Robot. There were several issues with the results, it was also impossible to develop an accurate model of the system for a natural frequency analysis.
My general opinion, I…
South African here, I just started working for an Austrian company. I am still getting used to working in kN/cm², my brain is built for kN and meter or N and mm...
@Andrea, The system can be checked using hand calculations. Closed sections acting isolation will not experience lateral torsional buckling, so general stress checks will be fine. If you look into the EN, AISC, SANS etc... there are equations to che…
@disla If you want a book that gives a basic outline of doing this with predominantly hand calculations pop me a message with your email address and I will share some information.
In the past I have calculated these loads to verify some of the data we got from BHM engineers, however we still used the data they provided. In almost all instances the data regarding loads Pt and Pw would be left out of there reports for some reas…
Out of curiosity, why not just perform the member designs according to code based checks? I generally only check buckling through FEA if I am dealing with shell or solid elements.
I find it very annoying to have a fine mesh for line elements, espe…
