This is an example of what I’m referring.
I have compute Prof M.Kraska example Tensile test on a wire.
For the same BC/mesh/material/Time period and Time step configuration (Automatic) ,
Linear strain rate:
Total CalculiX Time: 99.400074
Max P…
I’m not suggesting there is a solver problem. I understand the linear model doesn’t initiate necking because it is just a matter of some insufficient mesh refinement, but there are still some differences in the final plastic strain depending on the …
Thanks Sebastian, always interesting.
My main concern now is that, if an analysis is timestep (or I would better said, time shape) dependent, I haven’t been paying enough attention to that point.
I know some problems like thermal , are very sensiti…
Oh!! . Thanks Sebastian, let's see the results when you get them.!!!
Seems like for a uniformly stressed model, the plasticity may initiate anywhere.
The first point to start will concentrate the plastic strains. Something like saying a tensile tes…
I also like to ramp the load with a function in which the load is not always proportional to time.
Sinus is a good option as it becomes gentler up to the end of the Time period when strains and stresses may become more extremes.
It has the disadvant…
I have found this very useful and I have use it for many years now.
It is a free interpolation tool addon for Excel.
Sometimes we get tabular results from an analisys that don't match with the desired time point or displacement increment. This tool …
If I eliminate any one of the three options above, or reduce the speed for the centrifugal force, then it works.
¿Have you check there is no rigid body rotation?.
¿Are you able to load partial solution during the analysis? If yes, ¿How does the d…
Thanks again harryvanlangen!!
Yesterday I was thinking that this tool could be phenomenal to fillet corners . ¿Do you think that could be possible? I would say the final shape should be the cilinder after selecting a set of nodes in the corner. Prob…
Congratulations Victor.
Thermo-mechanical coupling will be very useful to me.
Still need to do more tests but thermal effects combined with only compression and plasticity will be a powerful feature.
SUUPER!!!. Great contribution. Thank you @harryvanlangen
It sames to manage Shells and Solids too. !! It is like a super "project into surface".
I can't wait to try on cicular platforms/handrails.
Hi, @AndreaC91
I have reformulated the Heavyside to see if it is clearer. Now the time (t) and the time offset (t0) are grouped so they both have the same time units and velocity is clearly identified.
Amplitude*heaviside((v*(t-t0))-(x-width/2))*h…
Hi cwharpe,
Created a slice of the left face with revolve (1 element per thickness), disconnect slice elements, reposition that slice with rotation on the opposite side, bond and the model is ready for Cyclic Symmetry.
I have found something cool experimenting with ccx that could be interesting and easy to implement on a future version.
Ccx allows multiple Cyclic Symmetries in the same model. I didn't know that was possible, but it is described in the manual.
It …
There is a way to sort the incompatibility of nodes position between Master and Slave faces for Cyclic symmetry with the internal solver.
Ideally this should be done in the phase of model preparation. It requires to leave the model 0.1º-0.2º short .…
Hi Prop,
I have had an insight about your comment:
"it just repeated each blade individually, instead of them being all in one mode, like it should be".
Be sure to add the perturbation parameter for the contacts to keep working the whole analysis…
¿Why don't you tie the different sectors to build the full model?. It works fine and Frequencies match with the Cyclic model.
The center hole is not really a bug. ND need a special treatment when there are some elements on the axis of rotation. I…
Boundary condition outside the STEP block can be defined as usual in Mecway. No need to change that.
You need to modify the STEP by first "don't generate the Step" and later write it yourself.
Centrif can be NLGEOM if you need it. Prop_design recom…
HI Victor,
I would like to suggest that the node/Element List tool were able to sort by element, shape , component, or material.
Sometimes , some elements with different shape get mixed in between the mesh like in the picture. Ordering by shape in…
"¿What if the first 10 modes are all in the highest ND?"
I don't think that's possible. Anyway, the first extraction would have shown all the first positions occupied by the last ND. On a second run the user would have to increase just the highest …
Hi Victor,
I would say there is a best way to extract the modes when combining Frequency + Cyclic Symmetry. Let me know what do you think?
-One can request a steeped number of modes (we can talk about that later).
-Sort the frequencies and take …
Hi JohnM and thanks for sharing your real-world experience on the subject, I really appreciate it.
I'm not questioning how many modes should be reviewed, what I'm exposing is that if the designer request 10 modes (he will know why) there is no need…
I need to dig more but I suspect modes always start to fill from below. That would mean Nodal Diameter 0 is always E, Nodal Diameter 1 always T,....
I was also afraid that the shape may depend on the number of modes but that’s not the case. Given th…
I have seen a reduction in time extracting the modes up to a 400%.
This morning I have wake up remembering a conversation long time ago with a friend of mine. If a non-speaking English person try to predict the next letter in a text will probably c…
