As far I as I know the Mecway solver doesn't implement rotation so you'll have to solve using CCX. Also for contact, so:
a) You must create a rigid body between two pilot nodes (yes, two nodes) created in the middle of the bearing hole, and a group…
You can use compression only support in case of using Mecway own solver, or the more powerfull (and slightly more complicated also) contact in case of using CCX as solver. In the contact case maybe you´ll have to solve your problem several times unt…
As far I know, not yet, but you can show the CCX output from the dedicated button on Mecway, and for tailing the .sta files I'm using Tail for Windows that made the job smoothly. Once I know that the simulation will run I just look for the Tail win…
Could it be that this is a no lineal analysis? Maybe you are in the initial increment were you don't have results, so the mesh is empty. Try moving the time cursor in the lower side of the window to advance in the increments.
Is a little confuse th…
Hi Kwip, have you tried this build from within Mecway? I have tried another 2.9 build but have some problems (in fact for some reason Mecway can't lunch the solver).
Best regards, and good work!
Very nice meshes VMH, you are ready for the aluminum extrusion industry!
Would be very usefull an option to mesh onlys selected faces of solid parts.
Regards
For this kind of shapes I found very suitable work directly with the 3d solid and mesh only surfaces using the quad option, then create a named selection with one of the end faces. Then switch to element selection, select the named selection and rev…
Hi, good option the Line Z-offset, my meshes looks bad also when they have too much elements and the zoom level was too high. I though that was a problem of my old hardware :-)
I have noted that if is adjusted to zero we lost the element edges, so …
Nice option, I have seen something similar with Hypermesh from Altair. They have the same limitations (no sharp edges are recognized/represented) in the mesh. On the other side, in order to have a good representation of small features small element …
Hi, I'm doing some test with hard contact, and I have computed a value for the slope of pressure-overclosure, that make my problem solve. But now I want to start to try with different friction coeficcients, but there is a red warning in the tree tel…
Hi, I make the same, use an external program to take screenshots. Maybe could be implemented in Mecway a similar feature, a keyboard shortcut to use the actual save as PNG feature, thus there is no needed to implement the removal of the cursor and t…
I would add that every industry has his own criteria for meshing, posptrocessing and results, you should investigate on your customers about his FEA criteria. For example for automotive ductil parts is very common to have as accepted a V. Misses str…
In my experience hexamesh is a slow process and very manual, at least for complex parts. The first times that you mesh with bricks will take a time to understand the process and tools availables, and learn the mesh patterns for your commons features…
This is the same parte now with quad mesh in Roshaz and then sweeped in Mecway...the procedure was really straighfull, and now is full hexa.
Guess that the next step will be meshing in IA-FEMMesh also.
Until we convince (hey, we need more people, please make noise in this thread!) Victor to add fully 2D quad mesh in Mecway, in order to have a full hexa mesh the parts (faces in fact) can be meshed (2d seed quad meshes) in Roshaz and then export to …

Hi, following with my tests of the extructured meshing in Mecway, I took the last example and add some radius to the bosses and the tube, places were normally stress will be concentrated and need to have a good mesh. I didn't put attention on mesh q…
The first simple is the yellow, the second (not in the pics or model) was a try to make the next part with bosses and draft importing the solid (but I was not able to select the hiden faces), the third (grey) is then the same model but just only imp…
I have tried some simple parts, and for very simpe could work (see . I have added a little of complexity and then arise some troubles:
1) We need a wireframe view and possibility of select hiden surfaces to then invert selection and delete elements…
Victor, can be meshed only some faces of a imported solid? I meant, if this were possible we could just particionate the solid in the CAD in "swepeables volumes" and then in Mecway try to mesh some faces and extrude/revolve it. Maybe the end side of…
IA-FEMMesh export in Abaqus inp file, you can create even groups of nodes/faces/elements for creating boundary conditions, so is easy to follow the work on Mecway or CCX. I did'n try for mechanical parts yet, but the joint looks great.
And what about the cpu costs for including more faces in one side of the contact set? I came from old school where you must optimize every element and contact defintion to get the results as soon as possible, that I why I get the procedure of separe…
VMH, I work for the automotive markets and sometimes we are request to perform FEA on bolted unions under extreme loads, in order to address slip and gaping problem. We do a quick hand calculation but at the end we perform FEA for some sensible part…
Very good example VMH, just one point to notice, when you solve in CCX, you have two error messages about bonded contact converted to TIE. What is the differences between a bonded contact and TIE? On the other hands, should be this messages changed …
