Is it possible to use bonded contacts for parts that are intersecting each over are just have a line contact?
I´m not sure, try changing the tolerance zone
I tried to contact two intersecting bodies in a simple model, but it did not work.
Maybe thi…
In your CAD package open the file and export every component as a single body step file (I did it with FreeCad), then import all in Mecway and mesh separately. Then you must join the parts (meshes) with bonded contacts.
For this kind of geometry I …
Sebastien, if you are using CCX as solver, there is a card called RIGID BODY that you can use for link a set of nodes to a master node, but is not implemented in the Mecway GUI yet, you must include using custom CCX data
As far as I remember, Mecway only allow for one body in each step file. You mention that only open one part, so is a normal behaviour for Mecway. Try to export only one part for step file.
Very smart approach German! I work with another codes (Zebulon) where we can use a special card to keep a void volume constant. I will try to find a way to use this trick, maybe a filled bottle.
I don´t see penetration on your model, could it be that you are postprocessing with the default deformation scale factor (92.1x in this case)? In this way there is penetration, but is a display option. At real deformation (1x) looks like there is no…
Hi Simon and Barrti, I was able to solve also using fixed time step (0.001 second), with plastic material. In my model I just use a bilineal isotropic option with the yield and tangent modulus for a basic hot rolled steeel.
What is making me noise …
Barrti, you meant you have been able to go downward and then upward with the die? Was a matter of v8 automatic settings? If that the case can you copy/paste the step definiton of the .inp that solves succesfull?
Regards
I create a new model based on the one that is available on Youtube, but made it with Code_Aster, a very similar case. A punch, die and a blank sheet to press, and want to model the donward and upward of the punch to see if is possible also to check …
I just make some trials, you can do for improve:
Use lineal elements
Include both parts of the die (male/female)
More important, you cannot block (clamp) the end of the strip, the material must have some possibility of sliding, otherwise will be ex…
Have tested the ¨New CCX element type¨ feature and found usefull, but should not be limited the list of named selections to only element selections? Or better, take the list directly from the component names?
1) First I would try with lineal elements
2) You could try to reduce the size of elements in the contact zone, and to keep the model small and quick to solve reduce the number of elements in Y direction to 1 and use simmetry to consider the full geo…
Victor, about memory, yes was that, I setup the highest resolution and step colors as I was using on v7... will has to change my machine :-).
I noticed that you has bundled CCX 2.11, while in v7 was 2.12, have you noted some wrong behavieur with th…
Hi Victor, nice features on the new version, thanks!. I have noted in beta 2:
When we choose the displacement branch on the result tree, the Magnitude default field is showed with arrows in place of standard colors as usual
If you have added short…
In fact Optimax is different from what you ask for, because is not just curve fitting but it will drive CalculiX (or other solvers) to find the adecuate material coeficients to match a reference curve performing several calculations. I have used for…
Simon, I have never try the Linux version of Netgen, maybe in the next days as I have installed Ubuntu on a virtualbox machine. In Windows there are some crashes, but normally they are due to very bad geometry. What kind of problems you are facing?
I remember in the Windows XP era, I had a standard model that I ran on every new workstation to have a kind of benchmarking (not using CalculiX but Zebulon, another solver), and one thing that I notice was that the state of the Windows installation …
Have tried on a Xeon with 16 cores, but even if I setup all the environment variables to use the 16 cores, CCX runs only in 8. On the other way have ran also some problems in a bigger cluster and again, there were no big difference against my old i7…
I agree with you, very few documentation available for such great program. One of the most usefull options/tools to me is the Geometric Doctor, has repaired lot of models that was unnable to mesh directly.
Some links and an old manual of the versio…
I have similar issues with big models (maybe half of yours), no matter if the job is launched from Mecway or command line. Guess that is a problem with CCX memory managment.
By the way, we can choose the quantity of cores used by the simulation using system variables, but is also possible limit the memory that it takes
Have found this fr Windows 7, will try later on my Win10 machine
"On Win7, open msconfig, then Boot …
By the way, there are online some clusteres availables ready to solve your problem for very few money, maybe that´s a better solution for such a big model.
